Snowy Glow (30x40)

My first completed landscape in 2018 - and one of my favourites. I did things “out of order” on this one and sketched it out first, then tried to add background colour around the trees (while trying not to smudge the charcoal trees). And speaking of background- I put super bright orange first, then the turquoise on top (after it dries). This really makes the blue “pop”. I’m having so much fun experimenting with the sky and trees - it’s nice to mix things up once in a while.

Tantalus Range (12x24).

This is one of my favourite pieces I completed this past month. I like its simplicity, and I think it really captures the winter nighttime glow that you see and feel off the mountains at this ytime of year.It reminds me of why I decided to call this beautiful province home 26 years ago today.I’m trying to decide if it should be a keeper too,

LOST (24x20 available). I always seem to have side projects on the go that are inspired by my surroundings.Flowers are the theme in the spring, and right now I’m feeling a bit obsessed about winter trees and snowy mountains. I keep trying to get the reflective light correct (especially on the mountain tops).I also have been playing with various shades of blue in the background and how they glow with the shiny top coat.

Unexpected Snow (48x24)

Unexpected Snow (48x24) available. I'm sure the last thing anyone around here wants to see is more snow - but I thought I'd share this one with you. I finally caved and brought to my Bungalow studio one of my winter tree paintings from my private collection. It's one of my favourites. The deep turquoise background has such a glow (and looks way better in person).

White Woods

White Woods (18x36). Available.  I seem to be obsessed with painting snowy trees these days, but I just can't seem to get enough it them. They remind me so much of being at my cabin in the winter - especially with the northern light "ish" glow in the sky.

Quest 30x30 acrylic on canvas

Something a little different for me. I couldn't help but be inspired by all the snow we have had this year - it's been amazing. Especially with the bright blue skies. A welcome change (for me) to our normal dreary rainy days. Plus this was so much fun to paint - which is what it's all about...
